In NID entrance exam it is not the mark, but your ranking which counts. You must aim to be in first 100. (This ranking includes all category.)
Drawing is important, but not very much. Remember, NID is not DRAWING EXAM. It is about creativity and thinking aptitude of students which take one to NID.
NID do not declare marks or ranks.

helo sir,
i’m madhvi i have completed t.y.b.com recently i want to apply for nift pg programe fashion mgnt is it possible to get asmission by just studyng study material or without coaching classes? because till 12th i was gujrati medium student after tht i cmplt my graduation frm english medium colege. so pls reply.THE FACT:- NIFT PG Fashion Management exam is extremely easy exam. You can buy self study books and can study at home. If you consider yourself a student with 60% ability in your regular learning, chances are that you can crack NIFT PG Fashion Management very easily. I have seen number of students who even at Undergraduate level studied through their state language, even such students crack this exam easily.
In my opinion generally students do not need to attend any classes to crack such exam.
Best wishes.

I was just reviewing through the advertisements and came across the 6 Architecture Colleges under the Punjab Technical University (vis-a-vis Chitkara School of Planning & Architecture, College of Architecture, Indo Global College of Architecture, Giani Zail Singh,College of Engineering & Tech., Giani Zail Singh,College of Engineering & Tech., Surya School of Architecture, RIMT-Institute of Engg. & Tech.)
Could you please tell me how these are? And based on my secured marks, are they worth applying? - #161 written by maahi 1 year ago

Thak you for your your invaluable advice Sir. However, to my dismay there are no such colleges who shall take admission based on the HSC+NATA score merit list in my state, West Bengal.
Sir, in your last reply you advised a few colleges, I would like to be enlightened on their admission procedure and also be aware if there is still provision of time to apply to the mentioned institutions. In West Bengal there are three colleges who accepts NATA score and offers admission to first year B.Arch courses after 12th standard. Sir, I am a resident of Kolkata,. WB. I have scored an aggregate of 88.3 including Math at HSC level, and have secured a NATA score of 103/200. I am really keen on studying architecture. However every college in Maharashtra I see happens to set a criteria as the resident of their state. Please help. AIEEE AIR – 13935. I have applied at CEPT, is there any chance?
Yes, every state will have its own quota for state students. You will get admission in to the best architecture college in West Bengal.
CEPT B.Arch last year merit list is uploaded on my site. You may go through it and get an idea how admission trend changes according to “state” and “other state” students.
Admission for NID, NIFT, IIT-CEED do not have such criteria of state.
Best wishes.

Sir,
I have just given my 10th std exam this year and the results would be out in a week.I am quite sure that I would get about 80%.I am interested in doing architecture, but is it necessary to take up a science stream?I have this confusion because it has been said to me that an architecture with a science field is more in demand than the one who has done Commerce/Arts.One can apply for B.Arch course after 12th standard, passing from Science, Commerce or Arts (Mathematics or Statistics or Business Mathematics as a subject must). All Architects are at par, there is no distinction between Architects with Science subjects in 12th or Architects with Arts/Commerce in 12th. All are in equal demand provided they are equally talented. Best wishes.
We regularly conduct three/four days workshops for NID, NIFT, NATA, CEPT, CEED, SPA, SIR.J.J., and MSU Faculty of Fine Arts, Vadodara’s entrance exam preparation at Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and other major cities. Keep looking for dates of such workshops on our site. We may start our classes at Pune shortly.

i have a big doubt presently troubling me….
i am extremely creative…it was the people who witnessed my creativity..told me about NID….
but i havent given an elementary or intermediate drawing exam…is it necessary..or will it really help for NID and after NID…..i want to pursue..automobile design or product designing..please help me out1) For NID entrance exam/admission you do not need to give any drawing exam at all. You must have cleared 12th for UG courses and Graduation for PG courses
2) NID will teach you skills required to sketch etc… You may not know good drawing at all and may get admission in NID and I have seen hundreds of students with excellent drawing/painting ability failing even in first written exam.
3) Do not believe anyone who says that to get admission in to NID, NIFT or Architecture you must know good drawing/sketching skills
4) Good Drawing/Sketching ability and creativity if totally different things. One may have both and many more talents.
Best Wishes.

Dear Mr. P.K. Jain,
I would put my daughter in any Indian school of Architecture for UG courses after 12th in Architecture.
You can think of some foreign university for Post Graduate or Doctoral courses.
But I strongly suggest you to go for ANY GOOD INDIAN SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE FOR UG COURSES after 12th.
Best Wishes.

Dear Sir, I’m Sahdev Dave persuing final year of fine arts from CN vidyalaya. I have completed my 12th exam in 2009. Now i want to prepare for the NID, MS university and related post graduation/post diploma courses.
My final year will complete in March 2010, so will it be possible to give the entrance exams in this year? As i don’t want to take gap for preparation.
Kindly give the starting date for coaching and also the fee structure.
Kindly reply. After courses of CN Fine Arts, Ahmedabad, you may join a few diploma courses. You can join Fine Arts courses at MS University, Vadodara. Contact MS University for further information. Also there are a few courses available with NIFT, Gandhinager . You may visit NIFT(.)ac(.)in site for further information. Also visit nid(.)edu for NID information.
After checking your eligibility for admission, you may go through training. Most probably you may not need any training as you have been trained at CN for five years( I presume) .
Since you have also completed 12th, you may join for UG courses of MS this year. Check for age limitation with MS University.
Best wishes.

NID , NIFT and Fine Arts do not ask for Mathematics as subject at 12th standard level. For B.Arch, Architecture course any where in India, one must have Business Mathematics, Statistics or Mathematics of Science at 12th standard exam (Arts, Science or Commerce – any thing).
For Interior Design course there are many different requirements at different colleges. Some requires Science (I am surprised – why???????), some give admission to any one who has cleared 12th standard.
Feel free for any question on NID , NIFT, NATA, CEPT or CEED entrance exam and coaching.

For career guidance you may visit http://www.hasitdave.com/ OR http://www.arkin.co.in
Yes, she can get admission in NID but chances for CEPT B.Arch course after 12th standard is nearly nil if she gets only 50% at 12th board exam.
For admission to CEPT B.Arch course after 12th standard, one must get more than 80% (open category) and very good score in NATA exam. This is observed for last few years admission patterns in CEPT.Also one must have either Business Mathematics or Statistics at 12th standard Commerce or Arts. If she opts for Science she must keep Mathematics subject at 12th standard. She must prepare very well for 12th standard to get maximum percentage in board result.
For NID or NIFT 12th percentage will not be considered for admission merit list.
Best wishes.

You must improve your drawing to scale / proportion / perspective. You should be able to depict your idea on paper well. But remember one thing THEY ARE NOT JUDGING DRAWING OR ARTISTIC SKILLS. You must be creative, must have aptitude and a mind set required for such institute and career. NID and NIFT do not need an artist. Go to respective institute’s site and find all details yourself.
THESE LINES ARE FROM NATA SITE:-
Q-5 :- How do I practice for NATA? Where can I take tuition?
Ans: NATA is designed in such a manner that prior tutelage is not required. COA-NIASA is aware that
candidates will have no or minimal knowledge of architecture. NATA measures aptitude of the
candidate in his / her aesthetic sensibilities (3D visualisation, logical understanding, etc.) and drawing
skills that are in-built in every candidate and developed right from childhood to the present day.
There will be certain questions on architectural awareness wherein candidates may be required to
identify building of national or international importance. The candidate is expected to know about
these structures through General Knowledge. The candidate may also prefer to update his
knowledge on this by some reading, Internet browsing or even by talking to architectural students,
architects and other knowledgeable persons. In all probability, this will not be required. There will be a
model NATA interface available on the NATA website to help candidates get acquainted with the
visual format of the test. There will be no model questions available as such. The language medium
of the test will be English. Minimal computer skills are required (pointing and clicking Mouse buttons).

Only for Fashion Technology (B.F.T.) (Not B.F.D), requires one to pass 12th standard with Science and Maths.
For any other Fashion , Design and Fine Arts and Architecture colleges any students from any branch i.e. Science, Commerce and Arts can apply for admission.
For Architecture admission Mathematics 12 Standard level is a must. Science students must have Math 1 and Math 2 as subject, Arts and Commerce students must have Business Mathematics Statistics as subject.
(MOST OF THE CLASSES WHO CLAIMS TO BE IN THIS FIELD FOR MANY YEARS DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS RULE AND INSIST THAT ONLY SCIENCE STUDENT CAN APPLY FOR ARCHITECTURE DEGREE.)Visit particular institute’s web site for detailed admission guideline.
